How long does it take to get my menu online?

Usually half an hour. You create your account, add your dishes, pick a layout and print the QR code. Done. If you already have your menu on paper or as a PDF, it's even quicker: take a photo or upload it, Mino reads it, and you check it over once.

Can I try it first?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with no credit card and no time limit: every business starts on the Gratis plan. Your menu is online straight away, with up to 10 dishes, the standard design and a small MenuStudio credit. Photos, your own design, times and unlimited dishes come with Starter, and the first 14 days there are free.

What's included in the Gratis plan, and what isn't?

Included: one menu, up to 10 dishes, categories, allergens, the QR code and one language. Not included: photos, your own logo and colours, opening hours on the menu, the review star and social profiles. The guest menu also shows a small MenuStudio credit. All of that comes with Starter for €9.90 a month, cancel any time. If you cancel later, your menu carries on in the Gratis plan and your QR codes stay valid.

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. If you can use a phone, you'll manage just fine. There's nothing to install, nothing to set up and no server. You sign up and type in your dishes.

I only have my menu as a PDF or on paper.

Accepted Answer

That's enough. Go to Menus, then Photo or PDF: take a photo of the menu with your phone or choose the file. Mino reads it and shows you every dish with its price and category. You go over it once, fix anything he got wrong, and only then is it saved.

What do my guests need?

Accepted Answer

Just their phone. They point the camera at the QR code and the menu opens. No app, no account, no sign-up.

Question 7

A dish has sold out. How do I take it off quickly?

Accepted Answer

Go to Menus, tap the dish and set it to “unavailable”. It disappears from the guest menu straight away and stays saved on your side. Tomorrow, one tap switches it back on.

How do I change a price?

Accepted Answer

Under Products, tap the dish, change the price, save. The guest menu shows the new price straight away. Nothing to reprint, nothing to hand out again.

How many menus can I create?

Accepted Answer

One with Starter. Up to three with Pro, for example main menu, drinks and breakfast. Up to five with Business.

Can I show a menu on certain days only?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the menu's settings you choose the weekdays it applies to. On other days it appears greyed out in the selection, with a note such as “Wednesdays only”, which you can also word yourself. Times per menu aren't available yet; for that, use the kitchen hours under Hours.

How do I set up happy hour prices?

The discount per menu comes with the Business plan; the times themselves from Starter. Set two things once, then it runs on its own. Under Hours, enter when your happy hour is. In a menu's settings, enter how much discount applies to its prices during that time, for example 20 percent on the drinks menu and nothing on the food. While happy hour is on, the guest menu shows the reduced price with the old one crossed out next to it; afterwards the normal price is back. You don't need a second menu and you don't need to change any prices. If your guests order at the table, the order uses the discount too.

Do I have to list allergens?

In Germany, yes, for the 14 allergens that must be declared by law. Every dish has a selection for this. On the guest menu they appear as small icons, with plain text behind them.

How do I get my menu into other languages?

Accepted Answer

From Pro, Mino translates your menu at the push of a button. You check the result and change anything you'd say differently. Guests pick their language at the top of the menu.

Can I customise my logo and colours?

Accepted Answer

From Starter. Under Branding you upload your logo and choose your colours. Under Menu design you pick the font, cover image and layout, for each menu separately too; the preview next to it shows exactly what your guests see. On the Gratis plan you stay with the standard design.

Do I need a photo of every dish?

Accepted Answer

No. A menu without photos looks neat if the descriptions are good. If you have photos, use them for your signature dishes. Doing it halfway looks worse than not doing it at all.

How do I get my QR code?

Accepted Answer

Under Tables & QR. There you'll find one code for the whole menu, to put up on the wall or in the window, and a separate one for each table. Download, print, done.

Why a separate code for each table?

Accepted Answer

So you can see where each order belongs. If a guest scans the code on table 7, table 7 shows up in your overview. Without the Ordering portal you don't need this; one code for everyone is enough.

The code is hard to scan.

It's usually the size or the background. Print it at least three centimetres wide, dark on light, and leave some white space around it. Glossy laminate and dark tabletops make it hard for phones.

I've added a table.

Create it under Tables & QR and download the new code. The old codes stay valid, so you don't need to replace anything.

Do I have to reprint when I change the menu?

No. The code always points to your current menu. You print it once and change things as often as you like afterwards.

Can guests order from me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with the Ordering portal. It's part of the Business plan and costs extra there; you'll find the current price under Plans. Guests add items to the basket and send the order, and it appears for you under Orders.

Where do I see new orders?

Under Orders. New ones are at the top, and a dot in the sidebar tells you something has come in. Every order has a status: new, in progress, ready.

Can guests pay online?

No. Guests order via the menu and pay you as usual, at the till or with your team at the table.

Does it connect to my POS system?

Accepted Answer

No, there's no direct till integration. Under Orders, though, served orders are grouped by table, so you can key a whole table into the till in one go and then tick it off. You can bring your item list from the till into the menu as a CSV file.

Can I offer pickup instead of table service?

Accepted Answer

Not at the moment. The Ordering portal assigns every order to a table, and guests scan the code at their seat. Pickup is on our list, and we'll let you know when it's ready.

What does MenuStudio cost?

Starter €9.90, Pro €19.90 and Business €29.90 a month. Pay yearly and you pay for ten months instead of twelve. The Ordering portal costs €9.90 extra if you want it.

Am I tied to a contract term?

Accepted Answer

No, there's no minimum term. You can cancel at any time without giving a reason, effective at the end of the period you've paid for: on the monthly plan at the end of the month, on the yearly plan at the end of the year. You'll find the button for it under Account.

How do I switch plans?

Choose the new one under Plans. Upgrades apply straight away, downgrades at the end of the current billing period. Before you downgrade, we show you exactly what will be switched off.

What happens to my stuff if I move to a smaller plan?

Nothing gets deleted. Whatever goes beyond the smaller plan's limits simply stops being public: extra menus go offline, extra languages disappear from the guest menu, extra logins are paused. Texts, translations and accounts stay saved, and an upgrade brings everything back unchanged. Whatever you wrote with Mino before is yours and stays on your menu.

Where can I find my invoices?

Under Account. All your receipts are there to download, and that's also where you change your payment details.

What happens to my menu if I cancel?

It stays online until the end of the period you've paid for. After that it's no longer available. We delete your data when you delete your account, not when you cancel.

Can my team get in too?

Yes. Starter has one login, Pro three and Business six. Under Team you invite someone by email, and they set their own password.

A staff member has left. How do I remove their access?

Revoke the login under Team. They're locked out straight away. Only the owner can do this, so nobody on the team can lock you out.

On the login page, tap “Forgot password”. You'll get an email with a link and can set a new one.

Who owns my data?

Accepted Answer

You do. Your menu, your dishes, your photos. We process them so your menu works, and we don't pass them on. That's set out in the data processing agreement (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag) you receive when you sign up.

What happens to photos I delete or replace?

Accepted Answer

They disappear from your menu straight away, and the file is deleted along with them. If one is ever left behind because something gets stuck during deletion, we clean it up automatically, usually after a little over a month. Until then it isn't shown anywhere, including on your menu.

Can I download all my photos at once?

Yes. Under Account, in “Your data”, “Download all photos” gives you a ZIP archive with every photo from your menus, your logo and your cover image, sorted by menu and category. The same button is on the account deletion page, so you can save what you want to keep first.

How many dishes can I add?

Accepted Answer

From Starter, as many as you like. On the Gratis plan it's up to 10, after which the menu tells you it's time for Starter. We only slow things down for very large batches: more than 3,000 dishes, 2,000 products or 300 categories within an hour. That protects you from an import accidentally running twice. An hour later you can carry on, and if you really need that much at once, drop us a line.

How do I delete my account?

Right at the bottom under Account. This really deletes everything: menus, dishes, photos and orders. It can't be undone, which is why we ask twice.

My change isn't showing on the guest menu.

Accepted Answer

First check that you saved and that the dish is set to visible. If both are fine, the guest's phone is usually still holding on to the old page. Reloading once is enough.

A photo won't upload.

Accepted Answer

It's usually too large. Phone photos easily reach ten megabytes. Shrink the image or crop it smaller, and it'll work.

The menu looks different on my phone than on my screen.

Accepted Answer

That's intentional: on a small screen the menu is laid out differently than on a large one. If something really looks off, send us a screenshot and we'll take a look.

Mino misunderstands me.

Accepted Answer

Keep it shorter and use full sentences. Instead of “pasta new”, try “Add tagliatelle with truffle for €18.50 under Mains”. And what Mino suggests is just a suggestion: you can change every word before it goes on the menu.

I can't get in at all any more.

Try a different device or a different network so it's clear where the problem lies. If that doesn't help, write to us using the form further down. Briefly describe what you did and what happened; that saves us both a round of back-and-forth.
